Yes. MapleStory private server clients are commonly flagged by antivirus software because they are not digitally signed and modify game files. This is a false positive. Add the game folder as an exception in your antivirus to prevent it from quarantining the files.

Try these steps in order:

1. Run the launcher as Administrator (right-click, Run as administrator).
2. Make sure your antivirus is not blocking or quarantining game files.
3. Use the auto-retry launcher included in the client folder.
4. If on Windows 11, the DXVK compatibility layer is included. Ensure your GPU supports Vulkan.

DXVK translates DirectX 8/9 calls to Vulkan, which is needed on Windows 11 where native DirectX 8 support is broken. The DXVK files are already included in the client. If you are on Windows 10 or earlier, DXVK is optional but may improve stability.

The client launches in windowed 800x600 mode by default. You can press Alt+Enter in-game to toggle fullscreen mode.

Make sure the server is online (check the status in the sidebar). If the server is online but you cannot connect, check your firewall settings and ensure ports 8484 and 7575 are not blocked. Restart the launcher and try again.
